When it comes to fashion, one cannot get much bigger than Naomi Campbell. The supermodel is using her fame for positivity with her charity, Fashion For Relief, which raises money for countries in need. Last season, her fashion shows in New York and London raised funds for the Haitian health care system devastated after the earthquake.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Campbell’s modeling career and design duo Dolce & Gabbana are honoring the supermodel with a limited-edition collection of 14 tee shirts, each with a different iconic image of Campbell. All of the proceeds will go to Fashion For Relief and the tee shirts will be sold exclusively in Dolce & Gabbana boutiques. Each will retail for $200.

Marc Jacobs has decided to take a whole new twirl with their creativity by adding a plus size collection to their line. Is this wise? Well yes, this is what I personally have been waiting for. A designer who isn’t afraid to try something different. Think outside the box.

Whoever said clothes were only meant for skinny people? When manufacturing a product, you want a product that can cater for everyone so how about making clothes for all people no matter the size or shape?

This is isn’t some political correct speech. It’s just a reality check upon ourselves; we like to follow what one person is doing, because one designer says he is making clothes for skinny people every other designers follows. Well common sense tells you in order to beat the competition you have to bring in something different.

Some clothes look better on plus size models rather than size 0 models.  Fashion is something that carries so much creativity and for it to be stigmatised to one group of people that would make it boring. How are we to see the beauty of it if we keep seeing the same thing? Fashion designers do need to start thinking outside the box and what Marc Jacobs have decided to do has certainly widened the market (no pun intended). Having gotten all excited about this I do wonder what their definition of what plus size is and what their size range will be. We just hope it will keep Crystal Renn busy who has become the new face of plus size models.

Let’s just wait and see where the unveiling of this new idea will take us and whether young girls would be forced to eat more because they want to be just like the plus size model superstars.

Planning a fashion show is fun and exciting; well that’s what I thought anyway. For this non-profit organisation that I run I wanted to raise more money to take with me for the next trip to Zimbabwe.

I had some help me to put on this fashion and I therefore this time it will be easier than the first fashion show I had put on a couple of months back. The first weeks when we started planning were going great ideas popping out and being put into practice. Just a week before the show things started to fall apart, frustration, disappointment, I even tried to fall apart but something just kept me going.

I thought having an extra pair of hands would help relieve the pressure but I have to admit this has been the hardest event I have ever planned. Just a day before the fashion we lost the venue, we lost so many people that were the main part of the show, I lost a business all in one day. Nightmare? No something beyond a nightmare. I was trying to cry but the tears would just not come out.

Where was I going to find a venue in like 3 hours to host a show tomorrow? All the people I was relying on were unavailable and all the people I least expected to help and all those I was afraid to disappoint stepped in.

So from 8 designers to four designers the show had to go on, well so they insisted. As sceptical as I was, indeed I carried on. A venue was found by a friend of mine. So Saturday morning I got up still worried and unsure about the whole thing. At least three times I called up the designers asking to cancel, but they were not going to give up that easy.

We put on the show with the minimum resources and the results were far much better than I thought. Beautiful models strutting their stuff on the catwalk with the beautiful garments created by the wonderful designers Roy Storch, Don Fabio, Gillian Bolton and the headliner LDW Atelier.

As each minute went by I was just checking my clock I could not wait for it to be over. I had never felt so much pressure in my life. It was until the next morning when I actually appreciated how well the show had turned out.

All I can say to the designers , models and to our hosts Martin D-Toc and David Nwogbe , I cannot thank you enough, you did a great job. We managed to raise £196.40 and this will be used to pay for school fees for at least five more children which will take the total to 8 children who Life Foundation is providing an education for. As well as this we are starting a theatre workshop for the youth in London and I am hoping and praying that will be minimal trouble.

Well done to everyone that took part and donated, no matter what you can go on in life knowing that you have made a difference. Thank you

Just because something does not look prosperous or good for you ,do not put it off because you don’t know the outcome. When all else fails press on, it’s your endurance that pays

Special thanks to Rob Shepard a dedicated reliable photographer who provided us with these snaps. Definitely would recommend him.Thank you Rob.
